Help Carol track the man who sold her ancestors

“Partridge Thatcher was a resident of New Milford, Connecticut.  Around the year 1749, he purchased two enslaved children from a man named Captain Jabez Dean of Norwich, according to the book History of New Milford and Bridgewater, Connecticut, written in 1882.  I am descended from these children. Their grandson was freed by Thatcher and became one of the earliest Black farmers in Vermont.  I am trying to find out how this Jabez Dean is connected to the Atlantic slave trade and whether he had a vessel that can be tracked.”
