Hosted by Teaching Hard History and Salem Maritime National Historic Site

September 20th at 7:00pm EST

Teaching Hard History partnered with the Salem Maritime National Historic Site and local teachers to co-develop materials to teach “hard history” in the North.

Who and what is the webinar for?

The webinar will highlight new digital resources for teachers and students on the history of slavery and freedom in the North. Teachers of grades 3-8 will find this most useful as those are the grades the materials were developed for.

How do I participate?

Register here to register in advance for this free event. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

What will I learn?

Hear directly from staff and teachers about the co-created materials and lessons, how students responded, and how others might use them in their classrooms. Short presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period.

Do I need to prepare?

You do not need to prepare, but for a preview, visit Salem Maritime’s “Education” webpage and view our new film (located at the top of the page), “Understanding and Teaching Hard History.”
