The title reference is to Hebrews 11. Broteer Sangumn Furro, remembered today as Venture Smith, created a strong family and stability on the land. The Smiths are some of the first Native African Americans in Connecticut, an original mulatto family. Though they have been called Pilgrims and Strangers searching for a Country, that is not what happened with Venture’s Victory. Amina R. Merritt, Esq. is an attorney and a direct descendant of Venture Smith. On this Conversation at Noon on the Connecticut Freedom Trail, she will be sharing her family’s story and their work in honoring and remembering their history.
Wish I could attend this but have a stress test scheduled that day.
