Mimi Pichey is the convener of Hidden Jamaica Plain, a group of volunteers researching the history of land theft, enslavement, resistance and community in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Our project seeks to bring to light what has been forgotten or hidden in our community’s history. We are exploring the history of the Indigenous people, identifying and sharing the stories of enslaved people from the 1600s and 1700s, developing a history of the abolitionist movement in JP, and researching movements and activities of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries that made an impact on our community and beyond.

Advisors to Hidden Jamaica Plain are Christle Rawlins-Jackson and Byron Rushing.

  1. Please consider changing the group name from Slave Legacy History to Enslaved Legacy History, or Enslavers’ Legacy History.
