Residents are digging into the town’s ties to the transatlantic slave trade and Kittery Point’s status as a documented arrival port for ships carrying enslaved people.
Two plaques will be installed — one at the cemetery across from the First Congregational Church on the Piscataqua River, the other outside the Second Christian Church in the Foreside — noting the history of enslaved people brought to Kittery.
